Weekly update...

Hello Running Friends,

Two special birthdays to announce : Mark Sievert (November 6) and Lavene Payne (November 10) . Happy birthday Mark and Lavene !
__________________________________________________________________________ This week's group runs :

Wednesday (November 5) - Meet at the Y @ 5 p.m. (Wear your reflective vests and lights for safety)

Saturday (November 8) - Meet at the Y @ 8 a.m. (Color scheme - wear red) We'll go for our usual Saturday morning run, stop by the radio station for an interview, and then to McDonald's for lunch...

I have an opportunity for the Running Friends I'd like to run by you. Our Sportsdirector, Zach Ulin, wants to attend the Penn State-Iowa game on Saturday, November 8th. That means he needs someone else to do the Toyota Sports Show that morning from 10 to 11. I suggested a Running Friends show. We could talk about how we enjoy running and the benefits of running. We could talk about how running is for everyone and anyone, not just the gifted. We could branch out into swimming, biking, and triathloning. We could invite some cross country folks to participate. Maybe Nancy, Chris, and Lisa might be interested in being radio stars broadcasting to thousands and thousands of listeners. Or at least two or three. We could tell stories about wild and weird things that have happened to us while we've been running -- and we all have some. I think it could be a lot of fun and a service we could do for the community, but we would need some people to commit to it -- and I think you are a prime suspect. Are you interested? Would you run this by the group and see if anyone is interested in becoming a Radio Star? We could run from 8 to 9:30, stop at the station to do the show, run back to the Y, and go to McD's for lunch.

Pictured below :

The Governor's race at Scott County Park last Sunday. Joe Timmsen, Nancy Foxen, Noel
Spencer, Brett Guerra, Mario Garcia, Stacey Eberhard, Carlos Rondon, and Nancy Shell taking
their turns at the rope. Guess how many made it over the creek without getting wet? (Look closely at Nancy Foxen's swing... see the poor guy in the water with the yellow shirt on? Nancy nailed him with her swing !) If the rest of the group had followed Danelle Much and Larry Sandhaas they would not have had to cross this creek. Know why? They got lost and blazed their own path through the woods!

Keep Running ! Keep Smiling !
