CHILI CHASE THIS SUNDAY - FEB 24TH

Hello Running Friends,

BRRR ! The Arctic temperatures continue. We have less than 7 weeks before the St. Louis marathon. It has been a brutal winter to train for a marathon !

Despite the cold, snow, and ice... our running schedule remains the same :

Wednesday and Thursday nights @ 5 p.m. near the MHS tennis courts

Saturday (the Y) and Sunday (MHS) mornings @ 8 a.m.

Note : I may only run a few miles with the group on Sunday morning because Sunday afternoon is the 4 mile Chili Chase in Davenport at 1 p.m. We are meeting @ 11:30 a.m. at Farm and Fleet to carpool to the race. Come join us !

This past Sunday, Stacey Eberhard ran a marathon while vacationing in Florida. She mentioned that since it was a weekend that she planned to do a 21 mile run, she may as well run the Ft. Lauderdale marathon. Stacey, YOU ROCK ! Check out the awesome Running Friend's blogsite that Stacey continues updating : http://runningfriends.blogspot.com/

Keep Running ! Keep Smiling !

Teri

The top three pictures are of Saturday's run. Small group but a mighty group ! Tony, Lisa, and Joe ran with us for 11 miles. Mario, Steve, Nancy, and I ended up with 21 - 21.5 miles (depending on whose GPS you were looking at... Steve stops his GPS when we take rests for drinks and gu, I keep mine tracking every step I take.) I like my reading better, 21.5 !

The fourth picture is of Monday's President's Day run. Very small group... sweet Nancy and me. Where were all of our RUNNING FRIENDS ??? Maybe it was a low turnout because the temperature was 8 degrees with a wind chill of -12 ? Or was it because the sidewalks, parking lots, etc. were glazed with ice? The bitter cold wind was blowing hard from the west so we drove to Nichols and parked the car at Casey's General Store. We ran 13.5 miles from Nichols to the Muscatine Y... the brutal west wind at our backs. We knew that Terry Curry (Kazar) would be proud of our Wildebeest migration effort. We also knew that our trail runners Steve Hammann and Joe Timmsen would be impressed as we blazed through miles of snow and ice.

The final picture (drawing) is the artistic design of talented Nancy Foxen. This will appear on the front of our Wildebeest t-shirts that Terry Curry is ordering for us. If interested in purchasing a t-shirt for $9, contact Terry at tcurry@mpw.org
